Ara Oghoorian, CFA, CFP®: Chairman of the Board
Ara is the chairman of the CMF board of directors. An avid music lover (favorites include Ramones, The Police, The Beatles, and Opera), Ara recognizes the power music has to change a person’s mood, mindset, and ultimately one’s health. Ara doesn’t take for granted the fact that his own two boys are healthy, and is thrilled to be part of CMF helping kids make progress in their health struggles. Ara is the founder and president of ACap Asset Management, Inc. an investment firm that specializes in advising healthcare professionals reach their financial goals. Ara’s financial career has spanned over 22 years across many cities – Los Angeles; San Francisco; Yerevan, Armenia; and Washington, D.C. His experience includes work at Wells Fargo Bank, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, The U.S. Department of the Treasury, a private wealth management firm in the nation’s capitol, and now at his own investment management firm. When Ara is not crunching numbers, strategizing with CMF, or listening to music, he can be found playing tennis, drinking Peet’s coffee, wrestling with his boys, and reading a newspaper.
Raffi Tachdjian, MD, MPH: President and Founder
Raffi Tachdjian, MD, MPH, is the founder and president of the Children’s Music Fund. He is Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics in the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). While at the Centers of Disease Control & Prevention, he led outbreak investigations and epidemiologic studies on Pertussis (whooping cough). He is credited with helping to understand the waning immunity of the pertussis vaccine, which led to current booster dosing in adolescents and adults.
Double board certified in Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, Dr. Tachdjian serves as Director of Clinical Trials at AIRE Medical Group in Los Angeles. He received his medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by an internship and residency in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, and a fellowship in Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is voted one of the UCLA Health System’s Best Doctors.
While not at work, he enjoys tennis, music production,making limoncello, and chasing after his K-9 unit named Roca.
Bill Fishel: Member
Bill Fishel is a Director in the Los Angeles office of commercial real estate firm HFF. A Yale graduate and member of The Real Estate Council, Fishel joined HFF in 2009 specializing in institutional-grade assets and developments across North America. During his tenure with HFF, Fishel has contributed to the permanent, bridge, construction, mezzanine and joint venture equity financing of retail, office, multi housing, industrial, hospitality, single tenant, land and data center assets totaling in excess of $5 billion. Fishel lives in Los Angeles with his wife Crissy and their two children.
Eric Flamhotlz, PhD: Member
Eric Flamholtz, PhD, is President of Management Systems Consulting Corporation, which he founded in 1978. He is also Professor Emeritus (Recalled) at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. He also served previously on the faculties of Columbia University and the University of Michigan. He also served for eight years as a member of the Board of Directors of 99 Cents Only Stores (“NDN”), a NYSE Company, where he was as Chair of the Compensation and Strategic Planning Committees, before that company was taken private in a transaction in 2012. He is currently building a global network of licensed and certified affiliates to deliver his frameworks, tools, and methodologies in their home countries including Argentina, Bulgaria, China, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and Vietnam. He is the author of several books and many articles, including Growing Pains (Wiley, 2007) and Corporate Culture: The Ultimate Strategic Asset, Stanford University Press, 2011. He is currently completing a book on successful multigenerational family businesses for Stanford University Press. Eric’s interests include sport fishing, travel, theatre, attending UCLA sporting events (Go Bruins!), Texas Holdem poker tournaments, and chess. He also serves on the advisory board for the UCLA Spirit Squad.
Jean Grasso: Secretary
Jean is a Managing Director and Western Market Manager for MUFG Union Bank’s Asset Based Lending division, a leading provider of senior secured financings to companies nationwide. Prior to joining MUFG Union Bank, Jean was a Managing Director at Wells Fargo Capital Finance managing the west coast Loan Sales & Syndications team. Jean earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics from UCLA and her MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. In 2011, Jean was named one of the top “40 Under 40” Merger & Acquisition (“M&A”) financing professionals by the M&A Advisor. Jean is on the board of the of the Commercial Finance Association and is an active member of the Turnaround Management Association and the Association for Corporate Growth. Outside of work, Jean enjoys traveling, golfing and playing tennis.
Ronda Grech: Member
Ronda is the Director of Marketing Communications for Semtech Corporation, where she leads the strategic planning & implementation of global branding, communication, and cause-related marketing campaigns. There she also oversees sponsorships of the corporation’s special events. Prior to joining Semtech, she served as the VP of Corporate Communication, Investor Relations & Human Resources for Vitesse Semiconductor, and has acted as the management liaison to the board of the directors for the Nominating & Corporate Governance and Compensation Committees. With prior experience in international public relations, she has worked as a senior strategist in the technology and communications industries. Ronda’s previous nonprofit service includes fundraising roles for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, the Arthritis Foundation, and the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, boating, cooking, and spending valuable time with her family.
Jeff Greenberg: Member
Jeff Greenberg is the owner and CEO of the legendary recording studio The Village. The iconic studio has welcomed quite a countless registry of artists, including hit names such as Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, Coldplay, Taylor Swift and many, many more. The Village is also known for its soundtrack recordings, including music for major films such as Dead Poets Society, Almost Famous, and most recently The Revenant. Jeff purchased the studio in 2007, after taking the reins and completely restoring it in 1995. Greenberg is a music industry mainstay, with a full background as a manager and concert promoter since his start in 1966. Under Nederlander, he booked and produced shows for incredible venues such as the Greek Theatre and the Pantages. As a former agent at ICM, he represented some of the best talent including James Taylor, Aerosmith, and Heart. Jeff is currently a member of The Recording Academy.
Mike Post: Member
You’ve certainly heard Mike Post’s work. The musician, composer, arranger and producer has long been considered the most successful composer in television history. Some examples include, the Law & Order franchise, NYPD Blue, The A-Team, Blossom, and News Radio. Beyond episode scores, Post has also written the themes for The Rockford Files, Hill Street Blues, and LA Law. Post was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, where his love of music began. After leaving the LA club circuit, Post became a studio musician playing backup guitar for names such as Sammy Davis Jr., and Dean Martin. Post became the youngest Musical Director at 24 for the legendary “The Andy Williams Show.” This amazingly expansive career in music has earned Mike five Grammy Awards and an Emmy. His other passions include running marathons, playing golf, and talking music with his Emmy-nominated music editor wife Patty McGetting and their three children Aaron, Jennifer, and Samuel Joseph.
Diana Sahagen: Treasurer
Diana is currently a Senior Financial Analyst in Marketing at DreamWorks Animation in Glendale. Her primary areas of focus are Marketing Finance, Consumer Products Finance, and Corporate Finance. Prior to joining DreamWorks in 2010, Diana worked at Paramount Pictures and The Walt Disney Company. Diana’s avid interest in television and film served as her motivation to pursue a career in entertainment finance. Diana moved from Boston to Los Angeles in 2005 to attend the University of Southern California, where she graduated from the Marshall School of Business with a B.S. in Business Administration – Finance. During USC, Diana held positions in the Alpha Gamma Alpha sorority as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. Through this organization, Diana helped organize various community, charitable, and educational projects working towards the advancement of Armenian causes, the college community, and the greater community. Two causes Diana is passionate about are music education and aiding disadvantaged children. After being introduced to the CMF in 2010 from her sister and former Board Member Nicole Sahagen-Schiff, Diana enthusiastically supported the CMF as the organization’s bookkeeper. In her spare time, Diana enjoys performing music, hiking, exploring California, trying new food, and researching technology.
Corey Weiss: Vice President Communications and Marketing
Corey Weiss is the vice president of marketing and communication for Children’s Music Fund and is well versed in leveraging multiple channels to market, promote and sell entertainment, digital media, and consumer products. Over the past 20 years, Weiss has worked for top entertainment and digital media companies including Twentieth Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Yahoo! and ipsy.
Weiss is a certified Spinning instructor and when not working enjoys teaching, hiking, reading, cooking and wine tasting. He is a founding board member of the non-profit organization Children’s Music Fund. He resides in Los Angeles.
