Joy Allen, PhD, MT-BC
Board Member, Research CommitteeJoy Allen, PhD, MT-BC, joined the board of Children’s Music Fund in 2026 and serves as a member of the Research Committee.
Joy is chair of the Music Therapy Department and founding and acting director of the Music and Health Institute at Berklee College of Music. An internationally recognized leader in music and health with more than 25 years of experience, she specializes in designing sustainable, outcomes-driven programs that integrate music across healthcare and community settings.
Additionally, Joy leads interdisciplinary collaborations across healthcare, higher education and policy to advance research, strengthen workforce development and expand access to music as a vital health resource. She also co-founded the Berklee Music and Health Institute Research Collection, a first-of-its-kind repository housing scientific papers, briefs and data at the intersection of music and health.
As a member of Children’s Music Fund Board of Directors, Joy brings deep expertise in Music Therapy, strategic program design and systems-level change. She works to bridge research and clinical practice, building high-impact, sustainable initiatives that strengthen resilience and improve quality of life for CMF Kids and their families.
