Sick Child With IV in Arm

Dear CMF Family,

Since we last connected, many of you have reached out to ask how you can help. I’m excited to share that we’ve launched a new platform that will allow our Music Therapists to offer remote sessions to the children we serve.

As we experience the effects of COVID-19, many of us feel isolated and fearful of the uncertainties lying ahead. These are the exact same feelings our CMF Kids experience on a daily basis. What’s more disheartening is that their siblings and peers can no longer visit them due to social distancing, creating a lonelier environment.

A few weeks ago, I had a heartfelt conversation with the mother of little Emma, a bright 4-year old girl with leukemia. When asked how she was coping with our current health crisis, she said “people finally understand the isolation we’ve been experiencing in the last year since Emma was diagnosed.” This struck a deep chord for me.

Until now, a child like Emma would have needed a Music Therapist to work with her face to face. Thanks to modern technology, Emma will now be able to connect with her Music Therapist in real-time through the internet in order to overcome fear, pain and anxiety. Emma is just one of hundreds of kids who deserve this transformative intervention. Our studies show that even one hour a week of Music Therapy helps normalize vital signs, decrease pain and anxiety, and increase social interaction.

My dear friends, please reflect on your own isolation, fear and social deprivation in the last few weeks. In times like these, we have the power to transform our own turmoil into acts of kindness.

Please give today to bring the healing power of music therapy into the lives of these sick children. Your donation of any amount will help to provide Music Therapy services to bring joy and desperately needed social interactions to little Emma and other children like her.

Help me show our CMF Kids how much we care by letting music unite us.

With gratitude,
